Our story

Our next chapter, and it's a feline one

We're a married couple who started BaskingPaws as the next chapter in our life together. One of us grew up right here in Basking Ridge; the other moved east from Orange County, California. Between the two of us we've cared for twelve cats over our lifetimes, and today our home is run by four cats and one very opinionated Siberian Husky.

That's not a marketing story — it's the reason the business exists. We know what it feels like to leave town and wonder whether the cat who hides from everyone is eating. We know the difference between someone who feeds a cat and someone who notices a cat.

Our standard

We only hire professional cat sitters

Not high schoolers. Not college students looking for casual summer work. Every sitter who represents BaskingPaws is an experienced professional who does this as their craft — because your cat's medication schedule and your house key aren't a side gig.

Roselie is our primary cat sitter today, and she handles visits start to finish. If we ever grow the team, the bar doesn't move.

Roselie has years of hands-on cat sitting behind her, along with shelter work at organizations including Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles. Shelter floors are where you learn to read the cat under the bed — the one who won't come out for treats, food or a friendly voice, and who still needs to eat, be medicated and be checked on.

She's the person at your door for every visit. That consistency is deliberate: cats settle for someone familiar, and they don't settle for a rotating cast.
